We are excited to celebrate Wade Bumgarner being selected as a Top 10 Finalist for the Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award! This award honors veterans, national guard members and reservists for entering the transportation industry. At the end of this year long competition, the final winner wins a 2018 T-680 truck Kenworth valued over $155,000.
Wade comes from a military family and followed his father`s footsteps in serving our country. He joined the US Navy in 1976 and since then has actively been involved in helping transitioning veterans for many years. He has volunteered his time, resources, and expertise to local veteran groups and the DWD by assisting veterans with job search skills, resume writing, and job search strategies.
“The Military taught me discipline, dedication to job and family, respect for others, the meaning of honor, commitment, love of country, leadership, work ethic and gave me an innate ability to think on my feet,” wrote Wade in his application submission.
Wade joined Veriha’s Apprenticeship program in August 2018 and his introduction into trucking hasn't been without growing pains, but it has been successful. “Wade always finds a way to make it happen and somehow still has time to help others along the way. Anyone who has been behind the wheel knows the time and energy it takes to learn the profession and Wade has made that look easy with his ability to smile through adversity and pick up the spirits of those around him,” remarked Kyle McDonald Veriha`s Apprenticeship Program Leader.
Special call out, while Frank Martin did not make Top 10, he is Top 10 in our hearts! Frank had a great year since going solo from our Apprenticeship program. From stopping to help people right after a crash to making Veriha`s Rookie of the Year. We are proud to have both of you on our team.
Wade will take the stage August 23rd in Texas at the Great American Trucking Show (GATS), to be honored for his contribution to the military and transportation. The final three contenders for the award will be revealed that morning and will enter into a popular vote to determine the final winner. Join us on our FB page to watch the event live!
