Anxious to start your day but just can't build your truck's air pressure? Here are a few things you can do if you relate!

  1. Listen for audible air leaks. [GONNA GET TIM'S INPUT ON WHAT TO DO IF THERE IS AN AUDIBLE AIR LEAK]
  2. Ensure that the emergency and service cycle gladhands are hooked up and sealed well on both the tractor and trailer.
  3. If the issue persists after that, shut your truck entirely down and release all the air pressure by pressing the brake pedal repeatedly until you reach zero psi. Once finished, restart your truck and see how your pressure builds from that point. Doing so may alleviate miscellaneous issues, such as purge valves sticking to dryers or sticking air governors.

What all air pressure fixes require is patience. If you're too eager to hop back on the road, you might be unable to fix it. For example, let's say your truck is building pressure, but you want to leave early, so you hit the release button. Well, guess what? You didn't hook up your emergency and service lines properly, so your psi plummets. That's why you need to take a deep breath, listen for audible air leaks, ensure your gladhands are hooked up properly and well-sealed, and turn your truck off and start up again. Of course, it's best if you run your equipment at the maximum air pressure, or it could result in expensive and time-consuming damage.
