How to Operate in Work Zones

Well the orange barrels are back and in full swing everywhere, we operate.  Just a couple of reminders to everyone on what work zones often mean to us.

  1. Adhere to designated speed limits within work zones.
  2. Treat construction workers as if they were your own family members and exercise caution around them. Their job is extremely hazardous as they work near moving traffic.
  3. Remain vigilant and keep your focus on the road to anticipate sudden stops.
  4. Pay attention to traffic signs that provide information about upcoming lane shifts, narrow lanes, or lane divisions.
  5. Be cautious of uneven pavement, as it can make maneuvering and controlling your vehicle challenging in tight spaces.
  6. Choose the most appropriate lane and maintain your position in it.
  7. Prepare for the possibility of unexpected closure of your exit ramp. If this occurs, stay calm and be prepared to detour a significant distance to resume your intended route. Safely pull over if necessary and devise a new plan, avoiding U-turns.
