The Importance of Scaling Loads

As a CDL holder, it's essential to understand the importance of scaling loads. Scaling involves weighing the cargo and ensuring it complies with weight restrictions and regulations. Overloading can result in significant fines, and more importantly, it can compromise the safety of your vehicle and other drivers on the road.

At Veriha, it's mandatory to scale all loads that exceed 30K. Remember that you'll have to pay them from your pocket if you don't scale a load and face overweight fines. However, that's not the only problem you may encounter – being involved in an accident due to overloading could result in criminal negligence charges. Therefore, waiting at a DOT scale with overloaded axles is preferable. Please don't rely solely on the suspension gauge on your tractor, as it may not provide accurate weight readings. Additionally, obtain a scale slip when driving loads and ensure the weights are correctly recorded on the BOL.

While scaling may take some extra time and effort, it's critical to being a responsible and safe CDL holder. By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your loads are compliant and that you are driving safely.
